Bogged Down Rotavator
We were contacted by a customer who had a 42T Rotavator bogged down in a field in Derbyshire. It was reported that they had tried to recover the vehicle themselves using a Cat D6 Dozer but with no avail.
Following consultation with the customer, we dispatched an Incident Manager to carry out an on-site assessment. It was decided that 2 heavy recovery units were to attend the following date after the customer had dug around the stranded machine with a JCB.
We attended the following day and carried out the necessary risk assessments and method statement.
Both trucks were set up on 2-1 pulls of both winches (4 in total) and winching commenced. By carefully and steadily winching and waiting for the suction of the boggy ground to alleviate, the machine was eventually winched onto the hard standing with no damage caused.
