Fully loaded artic bulker rolled over
We were called by a regular customer to the B5062 at Newport, with a reported fully loaded artic bulker on its side in a field. We dispatched our DAF XF heavy underlift and Foden together with an Incident Manager.
On arrival we found that the vehicle had gone off the road on a sharp right-hand bend, through a hedgerow and rolled onto its nearside into the field. The owner of the vehicle attended with a specialist sucker /blower and the load of grain was subsequently sucked out of the trailer and blown into another bulk tipper. Whilst this work was in progress, we removed the trapped hedgerow from the vehicle and set up for recovery.
Due to extensive damage to the fifth wheel on the unit, the trailer and unit were split. We lifted and winched the trailer backwards past the hedgerow and rolled it back onto its wheels. Due to very little damage to the trailer it was reconnected to a waiting unit and drove back to the customer’s depot.
The unit was then lifted and winched backwards past the hedgerow to a position where it could be rolled. The unit was then rolled back onto its wheels. Due to heavy damage to the nearside of the cab, the vehicle was then recovered back to the customer depot.
