Tanker Stuck in a Ditch

We were called out by one of our regular customers to a part loaded 8 wheel tanker that had slid off a farm track into a ditch on the nearside, and was now leaning heavily. We were informed that access was very poor and that we would have to reverse half a mile down the narrow track.

We dispatched our Foden 6×6 to the scene and assessed the situation. The vehicle was leaning heavily to the nearside and bogged in.

The Foden was set up in front of the casualty vehicle and a 2:1 winch pull set up. The crane was set up to lift the vehicle whilst winching to prevent a roll over situation and the vehicle was winched clear of the ditch. Due to previous heavy rain, no damage at all was caused to the vehicle due to the soft ground – the only damage was a bruised driver’s ego!

The vehicle continued on from the scene with its deliveries.
